In Kenya, postpartum hemorrhage is a leading cause of maternal death — made deadlier by blood shortages, distance, and delay. Our maternity ward, operating theatre, and specialized neonatal unit exist to change that outcome.
One fight, two lives
Mothers in our highlands face childbirth with thinner margins than most of the world. Beyond the universal danger of severe bleeding after delivery, this part of Western Kenya carries a heavy burden of inherited anemias — which leave a mother with less reserve to survive a hemorrhage.
When a mother is in danger, her baby is too — through premature birth, low birth weight, and birth asphyxia. That is why we pair our maternity ward with a specialized neonatal unit and an operating theatre: so we can act in the minutes that decide everything.
