Flagship Program
Restoring sight where sight was being lost
Our eye department is one of the most successful programs at Village of Hope — delivering advanced surgical capability that is highly atypical for rural Kenya, and giving people their independence back.

Surgery that sends people home seeing
For many in our community, failing sight means lost work, lost school, and lost independence. Cataracts and other treatable conditions go unaddressed simply because the nearest surgical eye care is hours and a fortune away. Our eye department changes that — examination, treatment, and surgery, close to home.
- Comprehensive eye examinations
- Cataract and advanced eye surgery
- Prescription eyeglasses, including free pairs through outreach
- Follow-up care that doesn't require a day of travel
Community eye outreach
Free eyeglasses & eye exams for the poor
Beyond the hospital walls, our outreach team brings free eye screenings, examinations, and eyeglasses to villages that have never had an eye professional visit. For an elder who can read again, or a child who can finally see the chalkboard, it is life-changing.
Free eye screenings
